Zeppolis!

Happy Tuesday Friends I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve filled with fun and friends! I spent my New Years Eve with my family which was mellow but is what I enjoy the most. My mom's family is 100% Italian and there is nothing I enjoy more than cooking good old Italian food! This New Years Eve we made homemade pizza and we make the dough from scratch which is super yummy! We had so much extra dough left over we used it to make Zeppolis! Zeppolis instantly remind me of a carnival or the boardwalk and I absolutely could eat a million of them. The smell of them is enough to send me into a frenzy, I swear I could smell a Zeppoli a mile away. They are super easy to make, just use any pizza dough recipe and follow the steps below. Happy Zeppoli Making!

1. Roll out the dough like a snake and tie it into small knots( they will expand when you put them in the oil to fry them)

Here's a picture of me cooking away!

2. Make sure to have a pot half full of vegetable oil. To test the oil to see if its hot enough drop a small piece of dough, if it turns brown and bubbles right away you are good to go! When the oils hot enough the knots should turn brown within a minute or two, make sure to flip them over so both sides get golden.

3. Place the Zeppolis on a rack to cool for a minute and the excess oil to drip off

4. Throw them in a brown paper bag with powdered sugar and shake!

Eat and Enjoy!
